I've been training and exploring behavior since I was 18 when I made the switch from volunteering in shelters through high school into a paid career in Animal Welfare. After years of dog training, working in pet supply stores, etc., I settled in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, where I immersed myself in snow and dogs as the executive director at a local rescue. I took what I learned from 4 years at the Animal Adoption Center there (and 10 years as a Board member) back home to New Orleans where I co-founded a non-profit, The Inner Pup in late 2015. TIP's programs focus on education and preventative vet care.
I started as a more traditional dog trainer who used treats as rewards to elicit wanted behaviors. Through my experience, I see a much bigger picture of relating to man's best friend. I've traveled the globe and developed a holistic perspective on training and behavior.
I am where I am thanks to the support of brilliant local and world-wide mentors and friends.
I welcome you to join me in the art and philosophy of training. Dog training is relationship building; when done right, this training results in good habits, comfortable routines, and meaningful rituals.
Relationship Training creates:
(1)stable, attentive, and trusting dogs
(2) relaxed, confident owners
(3 well behaved dogs in the community
